Ana Caban

I have been practicing Pilates for several years with DVDs presented by instructor Ana Caban, my fitness mentor.  I found that Pilates has made my stomach stronger while decreasing my back pain and stiffness.  I feel that Pilates is a perfect companion to my yoga practice.
I had the pleasure of speaking to Ana, a Western Massachusetts native, about her life works.

1.   What is your fitness background?

I started ballet at age three since I was always telling around the house.  As I grew older I studied other dance types like jazz.  In my early twenties I suffered a back injury that ended my career.  My chiropractors suggested Pilates and soon I was hooked.  I received my Bachelors in Spanish from the University of Massachusetts.  While living and teaching in Miami I found I wasn’t quite fulfilled.  After much consideration, I decided to combine my passions of educating and training your body.  The end result was going to New York City to become a Pilates instructor.

2.   What is your fitness philosophy?

Our bodies are temples and should be cared for from the inside to the outside.

3.   What is your purpose and goals?

To develop an online community called http://labuenalife.ning.com/ to talk about fitness and health. I am also developing a healthy lifestyle talk show.

4.   What fitness advice do you have for people?

Always love yourself.  Being healthy should be fun.
